Hundreds gathered at Mindil Beach Casino Resort in August for the 26th Master Builders NT Excellence in Building and Construction Awards.
The awards are the NT building industry’s construction night-of-nights where heavy-hitters from the sector come together with smaller operators and individual workers to commemorate building achievements of the past 12 months.
Upgrades to some of the Territory’s best-known public buildings have been honoured including hospitals and police stations but credit also goes to the dozens of builders working in remote communities.
Guests were dwarfed by a giant prop that dominated the venue — a crane with a stainless steel wrecking ball attached.
“It was a reminder that everything we build could go the way of the wrecking ball,” a guest told NT News.
“Everything new eventually becomes old again and the awards remind everybody about the importance of doing the right job first time and every time.”
