Accor, Marriott, Radisson among operators that have expressed interest in waterfront hotel

Hotel operators are invited to express interest in Darwin’s latest waterfront opportunity. See what hotel groups are keen.

Expressions of interest are now open to prospective hotel owners looking to invest in prime waterfront real estate.

Investors and hotel operators such as Accor, EVT, Intercontinental Hotel Group, Marriott, Radisson Hotel Group, and Toga Far East Hotels have already shown strong interest in the Darwin Convention Centre Hotel.

Tourism and Hospitality Minister Nicole Manison said the international interest in the hotel demonstrated the unique and exciting opportunity the hotel offered.

“This project is great for tourism, especially in the area of conference travel, creating an extra 200-250 beds in Darwin,” Ms Manison said.

“It’s also great for local, well-paying jobs in tourism and hospitality, and will have flow-on benefits to surrounding restaurants, tour operators and will reinvigorate our waterfront area.”

Chief Minister Natasha Fyles said the hotel was listed in the NT infrastructure plan and pipeline for 2022.

Ms Fyles said it aligned with the strategy’s objective to “invest in the right infrastructure, in the right place, at the right time”.

“This dry season we saw all of our hotel operators stretched to capacity and room available was tight,” she said.

“This hotel will be a much welcomed addition to the thousands of tourists who are eager to visit the Territory.”

The Darwin Convention Centre Hotel development site is on Stokes Hill Rd directly adjacent to the Convention Centre.

Expressions of interest will close on January 31.
