THE iconic Bark Hut Inn, 116km from Darwin along the Arnhem Highway, has reopened to great approval after more than a year since it was sold.
The Inn has been selling petrol since late September this year, but the doors to its camping ground, accommodation and tavern only reopened at the weekend.
The kitchen is open Monday to Sunday from noon to 3pm and 6pm to 8pm.
The bar opens from noon.
There is only limited accommodation available at the moment.
The business shut its doors in 2017 and was eventually sold in February 2019.
The Bark Hut Inn was built by Terry Baldwin, former owner of Annaburroo Station.
With the help of local Aboriginal people Mr Baldwin hand built the pub using ironwood and anything else he could find.
The Inn became popular after the Arnhem Hwy was built past it in the 1980s.
Facebook has been flooded with well wishers eager to make the journey back to the Bark Hut Inn since the news of the reopening broke at the weekend.
“Great food, friendly service, the pool is cool and new aircons in the rooms.
Stayed there last Saturday night and had a blast,” Darryl Minerds said.
“The renovations are nothing short of mind blowing, the menu is great as well,” said Maree Reidy.
