The old Bark Hut Inn on the Arnhem Hwy has new owners.

The iconic pub shut its doors two years ago and had been on the market for the last eight to nine months.

The pub has been bought by a group of people including Ross Carmichael, who posted the news to Facebook.

The deal is yet to be formally signed but is likely to be settled in the coming days.

Mr Carmichael said renovations of the pub would begin soon.

Colin Fink, one of the former owners said it was bitter sweet to hand over the property to the new owners.

“There’s been a lot of good times at the Bark Hut there’s a lot of memories there for a lot of people,” he said.

He said it was time to move on and let someone new take the reins.

Mr Fink has owned the property with various other parties for the last 20 years and managed the inn between 1999 and 2004.

In January 2017, the Bark hut shut its doors citing a range of issues.

The NT News reported at the time that the Bark Hut would remain closed due to disputes between shareholders. The Bark Hut Inn was built by Terry Baldwin, former owner of Annaburroo Station.

With the help of local Aboriginal people Mr Baldwin hand built the pub using ironwood and anything else he could find.

The Inn became popular after the Arnhem Hwy was built past it in the 1980s.
