CRICKETERS in the Top End for the Cricket 365 program are estimated to spend $191 per person, with the program estimated to make a $798,762 impact on the economy.

That number will tick over $1m in 2023, with a whopping $1.28m to hit the economy through the 2025 competition thanks to interstate players, T20 teams and visitors.

Cricket 365, run by NT Cricket is a new program aimed at developing Australia’s aspiring cricketers.

It will launch in the Top End this dry season.

NT Cricket chief executive Joel Morrison said 30 players in the Top End for 10 weeks would provide more than 2000 bed nights.

The format also encourages players to bring family and friends to the NT to visit while they are playing in the program.

TIO head of brand Ann Combe said continuing their support, from Strike League to the revamped 365 program was an easy choice.

“Darwin’s dry season guarantees perfect weather to play cricket and is an opportunity not only to showcase the best of the sport, but everything the Territory has to offer to a national audience,” she said.

“Our investment with NT Cricket in the TIO Strike League not only helps increase participation, but helps accessibility and development of the sport across gender and various age levels.”

Mr Morrison said the estimated financial impact of the program had seen a number of major partners jump on board to make the program as successful as possible.

“However, we’re also in advanced discussions with . (those) in the business of growing the north. This includes councils, government, education providers and private enterprise.”
