‘What are you doing mate?’: Tourist caught brazenly pooing on lawn

A man has caught a shameless German tourist in the middle of a disgusting act on his street as he returned home from a drive.

A tourist has been caught with his pants down in the middle of a “disgusting” act on a New Zealand street.

The shameless traveller was caught by local resident Pacey Grooby, 18, as he returned home from a drive to his home in Motueka, Nelson, on New Zealand’s South Island on Friday night.

Mr Grooby shared the confronting footage on Facebook of the tourist squatting and nude from the waist down, pooing on an otherwise tidy lawn.

“Imagine coming home from a nice drive to find some dirty tourist laying a steamer on ya street,” Mr Grooby wrote on Facebook, sharing the shocking video.

In the sickening footage, a man in a red T-shirt squats in the distance as Mr Grooby drives closer. As he approaches, Mr Grooby yells, “What are you doing mate?”

“I’m just sh*tting!” the tourist brazenly yells back, unwinding a roll of toilet paper.

“That’s disgusting,” Mr Grooby fires back.

'I'm doing a sh*t!’ the tourist yelled when he was confronted by the driver.

The man appeared to have brought his own toilet paper.

It's a sight no one should have to see.

The video has attracted numerous comments from people sickened by the act.

“Yuck that is so gross,” one person wrote.

“Disgusting sight,” another said.

Mr Grooby told news.com.au the man, a German tourist, left his poo and toilet paper on the lawn when he’d finished.

“I chased after him … and got his number plate. I spent the whole day on Saturday hunting through freedom camping zones in the area but could not find him,” he said.

“As weird as it is, I woke up (Sunday) morning and looked out my window and there he was. Parked up, freedom camping on my street directly outside my house. He then got out and started urinating on the footpath,” he said.

He then rang a member of the local council who fined the man $383 ($NZ400) and made him clean up his poo from Friday night.

The tourist was eventually forced to pick up what he’d left behind.

The tourist was fined by the Tasman District Council.

Freedom camping is a term used in New Zealand for camping on land that isn’t a camping ground or a holiday camp.

Mr Grooby told news.com.au his local area had been inundated with campers in the past few weeks, and the community was getting sick of them trashing the local environment.

“Our town is truly fed up (with) these dirty tourists leaving our town a mess and taking it for granted,” Mr Grooby said.

We have public toilets and rubbish bins everywhere in our town. And they still do this.”
