Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner distancing themselves from Donald Trump

Donald Trump’s “constant complaints” about his presidential election loss are reportedly driving away two of his most loyal soldiers.

Ivanka and Jared distance themselves from Trump and his 'constant complaints'

Donald Trump’s “constant” grievance-airing over last year’s presidential election defeat and the “fraud” that supposedly caused it could cost him an even greater loss — two of his greatest confidantes.

His eldest daughter and heir apparent, Ivanka, and her husband, Jared Kushner — who both served as senior advisers to the former president during his time in the Oval Office — have reportedly had enough of his incessant whinging, which is driving a wedge between them that “grows wider by the week”.

Speaking to CNN, 12 former Trump White House officials, former administration officials, family friends, acquaintances and members of his team revealed that the 74-year-old’s “constant harping on the past and his inability to move on” has created friction for the family and is increasingly causing him to turn the finger of blame over his presidential legacy on his son-in-law.

Mr Kushner’s presence “physically and virtually, has become increasingly rare as it became clear that his father-in-law remained preoccupied with the 2020 election”, one person familiar with the situation told the outlet.

“He was kind of like a parent who sticks around less and less each morning while they’re transitioning their kid to daycare,” they added.

The couple’s absence at Mr Trump’s Palm Beach golf club — where he, wife Melania and their teenage son Barron settled after leaving Washington — hasn’t gone unnoticed.

“They weren’t around for the usual spring and summer events at Mar-a-Lago,” one clubgoer and family friend told CNN, of Ms Trump and her three children.

Within days of Joe Biden winning the election last November, talk began to swirl about how the 39-year-old and her husband were planning to distance themselves from her father’s tumultuous White House reign.

The weeks of baseless election fraud claims from the Trump camp that followed — and the horrific January 6 riot at the US Capitol carried out by his most loyal supporters — left Ms Trump fearing for the future of her own potential political career.

Her transformation from an aspirational “woman who works” to “MAGA royalty” also made her something of a pariah in the New York high society she once frequented, leaving her with nowhere to turn.

Former friends of Ms Trump previously told Vanity Fair that “everyone with self-respect, a career, morals, respect for democracy, or who doesn’t want their friends to shame them in private and public” had every intention of steering clear.

Ms Trump has struggled to “undo the entanglements caused by the years at her father’s side” and is seeking a less complicated life for her family, two acquaintances told CNN, adding she has to “walk a fine line between embracing her father and distancing himself from his election lies”.

However, this didn’t stop the couple from following the ex-president to Florida after leaving DC, where they purchased a property close enough to Mar-a-Lago they could drop in for dinner with dad.

It also hasn’t stopped them from embarking on “a summer road trip” from Miami to Bedminster — where their cottage is “separated by mere tens of feet” from Mr Trump’s, which is likely “as close as the families have been for an extended period since the White House.”

Friends of Mr Kushner say the proximity won’t be a problem for him, as the two men are “not at odds” and have a “good relationship”, despite the fact he’s no longer “anywhere near” his father-in-law’s “political orbit”.

Things might be a bit frostier, though, between Mr Trump and his golden child, who “is focused on her children, and spending time with them, period”, according to her former chief of staff, Julie Radford.

Ms Trump “is not getting involved in the rhetoric, nor the unknowns that could be on the horizon for her father – politics, business, relationships or investigations,” CNN reported.
