Hillary Clinton unleashes with brutal Donald Trump dig before US election

Hillary Clinton has unleashed a scathing attack against the US President – and claimed most Republicans secretly want him gone.

New Trump tell-all's shocking sex claims

The woman who most believed would trounce Donald Trump at the 2016 US election has hit out at her rival during a cutting new interview.

Speaking with journalist Kara Swisher for her New York Times Opinion podcast Sway this week, former Secretary of State and First Lady Hillary Clinton said the mere thought of Mr Trump being re-elected on November 3 made her physically ill.

“I can’t entertain the idea of him winning, so let’s just preface it by that,” Ms Clinton said.

“Well, because it makes me literally sick to my stomach to think that we’d have four more years of this abuse and destruction of our institutions, and damaging of our norms and our values, and lessening of our leadership, and the list goes on.”

Ms Clinton also voiced concerns that Mr Trump might pursue legal action against her if he was successful this time around.

“There’s no doubt that he would do everything he could to attack and punish anyone who was, in his view, an adversary,” Ms Clinton said.

“And he would be aided and abetted, sadly, by both elected and appointed officials.

“So of course, one of the most important accomplishments that I hope we see in this election is a Democratic Senate, where that would be the check that we would need against further abuse of power.”

Ms Clinton also criticised Mr Trump personally.

“I don’t think he has any boundaries at all, Kara,” she said.

“I don’t think he has any conscience. He’s obviously not a moral, truthful man. So he will do whatever he can to lift himself up.

“And remember, as I said, he lives with this spectre of illegitimacy. He knows more about how he got really elected than we still do. Hopefully, we’ll learn more in the years ahead.”

But her criticism wasn’t restricted to Mr Trump alone, with Ms Clinton also slamming Republicans as “cowards” and “spineless enablers” of the President.

“Most Republicans are going to want to close the page,” Ms Clinton claimed.

“They want to see him gone as much as we do, but they can’t say it publicly.”

Ms Clinton, who was tipped to win the previous election in a landslide before losing to the former reality TV star in one of the biggest political upsets in recent history, said she was confident Democratic hopeful Joe Biden would prevail.

And she also claimed a female leader – “especially” herself – would have handled the coronavirus pandemic far more successfully than Mr Trump has so far.

To date, the US is leading the world when it comes to both the total number of coronavirus cases – which stands at 8,698,699 according to the Johns Hopkins University tally – and the death toll, which is 225,677.

So far, many polls are indicating a Biden victory, although the numbers are much closer in America’s key battleground states, which means the election could end up being a nailbiter.
