Donald Trump’s press secretary Kayleigh McEnany looks ‘completely different’ after Capitol siege

Photos of White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany are going viral with people suggesting she’d been “crying for days”.

A viral post on social media has claimed US President Donald Trump’s press secretary Kayleigh McEnany was visibly suffering after the siege on the Capitol.

Ms McEnany spoke briefly on Thursday after Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol.

Five people died in the mayhem, including a police officer.

She said the Trump administration condemned the mob’s violence “in the strongest possible terms”.

The comments were widely criticised and came after Mr Trump said he “loved” the rioters, calling them “very special”. Ms McEnany talked for two minutes and did not take questions from reporters at the press conference.

But it was her appearance that has sparked new attention online, with the usually glamorous and unflappable spokeswoman looking “completely different”.

A number of people on social media began suspecting her hair, makeup and fake tan team had quit following the riot. A number of others suggested she’d been “crying for days”.

Numerous commenters took issue with Ms McEnany’s appearance being discussed at all, saying there were “plenty of other more important things to critique about her than this”.

But others felt her looks were fair game.

“I’m not saying she looks uglier or doesn’t, but she looks completely different, which is funny,” one woman said.

“That’s the face of a lady who has been sobbing for hours and has to pull herself together to appear in public for approximately 60 seconds,” another said.

“She doesn’t look like someone with experience did her hair and makeup; it also looks like she has been crying for days,” another said. “She is pretty with or without but she is still evil doesn’t deserve sympathy like some are acting like in the comments.”

“It really is striking that hair and makeup have probably literally quit, that’s a striking development,” one man commented. “No way Trump would otherwise allow her to go on TV, he’s famously obsessed with that kind of stuff.”

But others were outraged people were commenting on her appearance at all.

“There are just so many valid criticisms of her. This isn’t one of them,” one man wrote.

Another agreed, writing, “This is misogynistic. We can talk about how terrible she is and how awful they all are without mocking their looks; this just builds up the patriarchal world we should be trying to dismantle.”
