Despite losing the election, Donald Trump is refusing to concede defeat – and social media is not being kind about his bad sportsmanship.

The hashtag #TrumpTantrum is trending on Twitter and hilarious memes and videos are not being kind about the outgoing president’s refusal to concede and leave the White House.

In memes, GIFs and cartoons, Trump is portrayed variously as a screaming toddler, a losing golfer, and a “Karen”.

In one of the funniest videos, tagged “Live scenes of Trump being removed from The White House” a white-haired aide tries to coax a Trump lookalike from a children’s playroom.

The Trump figure is jumping around the play group floor atop a fitball as children play around him.

The aide tells Trump “It’s time to go,” and Trump wails, “I don’t wanna go”, and as the exchange is repeated Trump bursts into tears.

He starts screaming, “I don’t wanna go, I don’t wanna go.”
As the aide tries to drag a resistant Trump off the ball, he says patiently, “I know you’re having fun, but it’s time to go, come on, let’s go, let’s go.”
Trump wails loudly and rolls onto the floor and as he’s writhing, the aide says “give the ball to someone else, give the ball to someone else.”

The aide tries to wrest the blue ball from Trump and says, “Mr President, give the ball to someone else,” while Trump is wailing, “Waa, I don’t wanna …”

Trumps grabs on to a blackboard and finally the ball pops up and the aide hands it to a young girl, slapping down Trump and saying, “no, don’t do that.”

As Trump continues to wail, the aide says, “it’s okay, it’s okay.”

Eventually the aide has to drag Trump out the door by the leg, telling the wailing president, “you’ve had a lot of fun, you’ve had a lot of fun”.

In a GIF posted on Twitter and tagged “Meanwhile on the golf course” a Trump figure misses a shot and then throws himself onto his back on the green.

He kicks his legs in the air and beats his arms like a toddler throwing a tantrum.

The hashtag #You’re Fired – a reference to Trump’s reality TV show The Apprentice – was trending on Twitter late last week and is still cropping up in tweets alongside #TrumpTantrum.

Several tweets reproduce a sketch by Portuguese cartoonist Vasco Gargalo.

Gargalo has portrayed the Statue of Liberty with Trump in a slingshot made from a surgical face mask and she appears to be about to shoot him into the heavens.

Another tweet shows an image of a kicked-in gyprock wall captioned “the walls at the White House right now #TrumpTantrum”.

In others, Trump is morphed into a “Karen”, a type of female hugely mocked for racism, failure to wear a mask, or showing shop workers contempt and demanding to see “the manager”.

Taking the micky out of Trump on Twitter, the defeated president’s favourite medium, has been rife during his presidency but has escalated in the days since November 3.

Last week, Trump falsely claimed he had won the state of Pennsylvania, the state which handed Joe Biden the presidency on Saturday.

When Trump tweeted his claim, Pennsylvania was still counting votes, in particular the later mail-in votes which were accurately predicted to favour the Democrats.

Twitter users responded by posting images of their dogs or cats stating their pet name and saying “#IWoninPennsylvania”.
