Joe Rogan Australia: Podcast host slams fake vaccine ad from ABC’s Gruen

US podcast host Joe Rogan blasted Australia as a “dystopian police-state” after watching a vaccine ad, but he missed one key point.

Popular podcaster, Joe Rogan, 54 has called Australia a “dystopian, police-state” over a spoof ad criticising anti-vaxxers.

Despite this, the UFC commentator, comedian and host of The Joe Rogan Experience shared a sketch from ABC program Gruen, while slamming Australia for having the “worst reaction to the pandemic” in the caption.

“Not only has Australia had the worst reaction to the pandemic with dystopian, police-state measures that are truly inconceivable to the rest of the civilised world, but they also have the absolute dumbest propaganda,” he wrote, referencing the 36-second Gruen clip.

Realising his mistake, he later corrected his Instagram caption with “EDIT: apparently this is not a real ad. It’s from a satirical show.”

In the 36-second video, a woman can be seen pulling out an Epipen after a man is seen going into anaphylactic shock. However, prior to administering the medication, the man begins questioning the pen.

“What brand Epipen is that?”

“What’s in it?”

“How long did they research it for?”

“What are the stats from Europe?”

Finally he asks: “What does Joe Rogan say?” and muttering “Call Joe,” before losing consciousness.

The ad ends with a voiceover saying: “We don’t question science when our lives depend on it, so why question it when millions of lives depend on it? Science has our backs, get the vax.”

The ad featured on the popular television series which is hosted by comedian, Wil Anderson. The sketch was part of an episode which aired on October 13, and was part of a segment called The Pitch, where two marketing firms are challenged to create an ad, which in this case was Covid-19 vaccine roll out.

After Rogan shared the ad, fans of the podcaster came to his defence, commenting that the fake ad was a sign that he’d “made it”.

“Wow!!!! You’ve made it Dr Joe,” wrote on commenter.

“All publicity is good publicity,” shared another.

Throughout the course of the pandemic, Rogan has come under fire for his criticism on Covid-vaccines and in September, he told his 13.4m Instagram followers he tested positive to Covid and was using the highly controversial livestock drug ivermectin as a way to treat the virus, as well as a cocktail of other medications.

”Monoclonal antibodies, ivermectin, Z-pak (zithromax), prednisone, everything, and I also got an NAD drip and a vitamin drip and I did that three days in a row,” said Rogan.

Commonly used as a horse de-wormer, usage of the drug to treat Covid has been widely blasted by doctors and medical boards including Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration.

Rogan has also vocally criticised Australia’s Covid-19 lockdowns, calling them “crazy”. Speaking on his podcast in August, he claimed the Australian Army was “keeping people inside in Australia”.

“There’s some crazy sh*t going on right now where the army is trying to keep people inside in Australia,” he said. “They have full-on government lockdowns where the government is flying helicopters over the streets (and telling people) ‘go back in doors, you’re not allowed to be outside’, which is crazy.”

Rogan has also claimed that while he isn’t an anti-vaxxer, he believes “healthy” young people don’t need to worry about the virus.

“If you’re, like, 21-years-old, and you say to me, ‘Should I get vaccinated?’ I’ll go ‘No’,” he said in April this year. “If you’re a healthy person, and you’re exercising all the time and you’re young and you’re eating well, I don’t think you need to worry about this.”
