US podcast host Joe Rogan claims he’s feeling “pretty f***ing good” three days after he tested positive to coronavirus in the US, after medicating himself with a cocktail of drugs – despite the fact they are unproven in the treatment of the virus.

The broadcaster, who has previously questioned the need for a Covid-19 vaccine, took to Instagram to tell his 13.1 million followers that he had arrived home on Saturday night feeling “very weary, I had a headache and I just felt run down”.

“Just to be cautious, I separated from my family, I slept in a different part of the house and throughout the night I got fevers and sweats, so I knew what was going on,” he said.

Rogan, 53, was tested on Sunday morning and said: “Turns out I got Covid.”

After his positive diagnosis, Rogan said he “immediately threw the kitchen sink at it”.

Rogan said he took “all kinds of meds” and then proceeded to list the treatment plan he followed in an attempt to beat his coronavirus infection.

“Monoclonal antibodies, ivermectin, Z-pak (zithromax), prednisone, everything, and I also got an NAD drip and a vitamin drip and I did that three days in a row,” he said.

Monoclonal antibody therapy has been used to treat Covid patients however the effectiveness of ivermectin, typically used as a deworming medication for animals, is still being studied and it is not a proven treatment for Covid-19.

Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration issued a warning late last month against ivermectin, reminding people it was not approved for use in this country.

And today, Westmead Hospital toxicologist Associate Professor Naren Gunja begged the community to avoid the potentially dangerous drug after a positive Covid-19 case presented to the hospital’s emergency department with vomiting and diarrhoea due to overdosing on ivermectin.

Zithromax, also taken by Rogan, is an antibacterial medication, used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections and prednisone is mostly used to suppress the immune system and decrease inflammation in conditions such as asthma, COPD, and rheumatologic diseases.

Rogan posted his video on Wednesday (local time) and explained that after three days of intensive drug treatment: “I feel great”.

“I really only had one bad day,” he said.

“Sunday sucked, Monday was better, Tuesday felt better than Monday and today I feel good, I feel pretty f***ing good,” he said.

Rogan went on to say he was rescheduling one of his shows, due to his Covid diagnosis.

“It’s obviously nothing I can control,” he said.

“It is what it is, these are crazy times we’re living in but a wonderful heartfelt thank you to modern medicine for pulling me out of this so quickly and easily and my love to all of you.”

Rogan found himself in hot water in April this year when he told his podcast that “for the most part it’s safe to get vaccinated”, but admitted he didn’t believe those who are young and healthy should get the jab.

“People say, ‘Do you think it’s safe to get vaccinated?’ I’ve said, ‘Yeah, I think for the most part it’s safe to get vaccinated’. I do. I do,” Rogan said on The Joe Rogan Experience in a conversation with comedian Dave Smith.

“But if you’re like 21 years old, and you say to me, ‘Should I get vaccinated?’ I’ll go, ‘No’.

“If you’re a healthy person, and you’re exercising all the time, and you’re young, and you’re eating well, like, I don’t think you need to worry about this.

“We’re talking about something that is not statistically dangerous for children. But yet people still want you to get your child vaccinated, which is crazy to me.”

Rogan is Spotify’s No. 1 podcast host.

The UFC commentator inevitably copped a wave of backlash, including from America’s top infectious diseases expert, Dr Anthony Fauci.

“You’re talking about yourself in a vacuum,” he told the Today show.

“If you want to only worry about yourself and not society, then that’s OK.

“But you’re saying to yourself, ‘Even if I get infected, I could do damage to somebody else even if I have no symptoms at all’, and that’s the reason why you’ve got to be careful and get vaccinated.

“You’re worried about yourself getting infected and the likelihood that you’re not going to get any symptoms. But you can get infected, and will get infected, if you put yourself at risk.”
