Queensland Police were checking the long queue of cars the Queensland border in Coolangatta today.
From 1am tomorrow NSW residents will not be able to enter Queensland, as all of the state is declared a coronavirus hot spot. The ACT has also been declared a hot spot.
Residents living in the NSW border town of Tweeds Heads will be able to access a special pass allowing them access to the Gold Coast. However, those residents will lose their access to the Gold Coast area if they stray out of the bubble into wider NSW.
A total of 11 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in NSW today.
While ten other cases have been linked to known outbreaks, health authorities are concerned about one case which has not been linked to any other known cases.
The woman in her 60s is from south west Sydney. Her case remains under investigation by NSW Health.
“While most cases in the past week have been associated with local clusters and close contacts with known cases, some have not been linked to known cases,” NSW Health said in a statement today.
Nine of the new cases reported today were linked to known outbreaks and acquired through community transmission. These included one person who attended the Apollo Restaurant in Potts Point, and eight people who were close contacts of known coronavirus cases.
One more case was acquired in Victoria, and that person has been in self-isolation, according to NSW Health.
