Reality stars hit where it hurts after flaunting their ‘work trips’ to Dubai as thousands unfollow

Social media influencers and reality TV stars are copping the heat after posting scantily clad photos while on lush holidays abroad.

“Where is the gossip?” COVID-19 has changed celebrity culture forever

Stars from the UK reailty TV show Love Island have been losing fans in droves after flaunting their “work trips” to Dubai – despite the current COVID-19 crisis in Britain.

Three stars – Laura Anderson, 31, Anton Danyluk, 25, and Kaz Crossley, 27 – have lost 33,000 followers on Instagram between them.

Love Island UK series four runner-up Laura, recently sparked fury among locked down Brits by complaining it was “really hard” being an influencer while in sun-drenched Dubai.

She lost 12,000 followers – while 2019 contestant Anton lost 14,000. He was among stars who tried to justify being in the United Arab Emirates by posting a snap of the skyline saying “love my office view”.

Kaz, from the 2018 season, was unfollowed by 7000 social media users. She said she’d been in Dubai since October and was a resident rather than a tourist.

Last week, another Love Island star, Olivia Attwood, 29, blasted their “tone deaf” posts and urged fans to unfollow them.

The mass unfollowing of the Love Island stars comes after Geordie Shore star Chloe Ferry copped backlash for declaring she was “at her happiest” while on a ritzy holiday with mates in Dubai.

The 25-year-old shared a photo of herself with the words: “Happiest when im [sic] on the beach.”

She had previously explained she would be staying in Dubai for two months, by which time the UK lockdown may be over.

“I was supposed to be leaving in two days but I’ve decided I’m staying here for two months,” she posted. “I’m not leaving.”

The posts come as both England and Scotland have been sent into a full lockdown, expected to last until mid-February at least, to combat an explosion of cases spurred by a new mutant COVID-19 strain.

“Really is a kick in the teeth when we’re all stuck in the UK unable to go out or do anything and you’ve got all these celebs loving life in Dubai ‘working,’” one follower wrote in response to the post.

Another fan fumed: “Honestly how are celebs allowed to travel to different countries when COVID is about?”
