Disbelief as two friends only people on entire flight
Two women unintentionally got themselves a “private jet” when not one other person booked the same flight.
How good is getting on a plane and finding out you have a row to yourself? Now, what about an entire plane?
Two women found themselves in the ultimate travel situation in the US when not one other person booked the same flight.
“We couldn’t believe it when we first were told that we were the only two on the flight,” Natalie Wolfley told news.com.au after her video of the experience went viral on TikTok, clocking up more than 4.5 million views.
“We had the whole walk to the gate to get excited about it and when we got to the plane it was a wave of giddiness.”
The Southwest Airlines flight could have had another 173 people on board the Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
“Oh my god,” Natalie’s friend Savannah Sargent gasped as they stepped on the plane, saw the empty seats and realised the crew outnumbered the passengers.
The friends were flying from Salt Lake City, Utah to Phoenix, Arizona for Savannah’s bridal shower.
The crew went on to address Savannah and Natalie by name during the flight announcements and after landing they were welcomed into the cockpit.
When the friends deboarded, the gate agent asked “just you two?” in surprise.
Natalie said they felt like VIPs and it was one of the best experiences of her life.
“The best part was being able to connect with the crew members. It made the experience just that much better,” she told news.com.au.
“It was also neat to be able to share this experience with a lifelong friend.”
The video has attracted thousands of comments. Natalie had “no idea” it would blow up the way it did.
“I first posted to Instagram and there wasn’t too much hype around it but as soon as I posted it to TikTok, it blew up,” she explained.
“It’s been neat to see all the kind comments flooding in. People are so kind.”
Commenters, including the official account of the Philadelphia Eagles, pointed out how funny it was the friends were still seated in the same row despite being able to choose any seat.
“This would be my fun fact for the rest of time,” one person wrote, attracting 35,000 likes.
“Honestly, shout out to Southwest for not cancelling that flight,” another top comment read with 115,000 likes.
It is likely the aircraft needed to be at its final destination to continue with its scheduled flights.
