The Queensland Premier has been mocked by her opponents for an ‘embarrassing’ detail in a government tourism campaign.

The Queensland Premier has been mocked for mistakenly posting a picture of a NSW beach to promote a Gold Coast tourism campaign.

Annastacia Palaszczuk’s media team deleted a post from her Instagram account that used a picture of Duranbah Beach in NSW to illustrate information about Gold Coast tourism vouchers.

“The image was posted in error and has been removed,” a government spokesman said.

The Instagram post featured a picture of Duranbah Beach, the northernmost beach in NSW.

Opposition politicians seized on the mistake to make fun of the Premier.

“The Premier’s 30 media spin doctors can’t even find a picture of a Gold Coast beach for a Gold Coast incentive and then out of sheer embarrassment they delete it,” Liberal-National MP Jarrod Bleijie told The Courier Mail.

The $1m “Play Money Reward” voucher program is part of stimulus package for border zone businesses and was launched on Wednesday.

Gold Coast residents would be able to get $50 back when they spend $100 with a participating business or $100 back when spending $200 or more, Small Business Minister Di Farmer said.

“There’s never been a better time to get behind your favourite border businesses,” she said.

About 150 local businesses, including hairdressers, gyms and retail stores, have agreed to participate in the program.
