‘Terrifying’: Plane seats start swinging

Terrifying theory why plane crashes keep happening

A passenger has lashed an airline for being “so poorly maintained” after a row of seats suddenly started swinging.

Daksh Sethi was on board a budget Indian airline, IndiGo, heading to the country when he experienced a “mini heart attack” after his row of seats started swaying back and forth.

The educational consultant who boasts 328,000 Instagram followers shared a clip of the “terrifying” incident to his account with the footage going viral.

“The first time it happened, it was a terrifying feeling,” Daksh wrote in the caption the clip, which was filmed by a fellow flyer.

“Never experienced anything like this.”

He said the crew did a good job shifting passengers to vacant seats at the back of the plane, while later realising the severity of the incident.

Footage shows Daksh sitting on the aisle with two other passengers also in his row, staring at one another stunned as the entire row suddenly shifted forward, then backwards.

The passengers were seen anxiously gripping onto the seat in front of them unsure as to what was happening.

“It wasn’t a good feeling at all – it was a feeling of free fall in a flying aircraft that’s just taking off. It was like a mini aircraft,” he said in the clip.

Daksh said while it may not look like a serious issue, he wouldn’t want an “elderly person with a medical issue”, sitting on such a seat in a flying aircraft.

“This is definitely a safety issue. I would not want anyone sitting inside of an aircraft that’s so poorly maintained. This has to be looked into.”

He said maintenance staff were assessing the issue during disembarking.

The airline addressed the incident in a now hidden-post on Daksh’s clip that has since been viewed almost 300,000 times.

“Mr. Sethi, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. We sincerely apologise for your on-board experience. Apparently this was an anomaly (sic), a very unusual occurrence as these seats have a locking mechanism,” the airline allegedly wrote, according to Hindustan Times.

“Please be assured that your feedback is being taken extremely seriously and this will be investigated thoroughly.

“We understand our crew responded promptly to address the situation and provided you with an alternate seat.

“The safety and comfort of our customers remain our top most priority. We appreciate your feedback and assure you of our continued commitment to providing a safe, hassle-free, and enjoyable travel experience to all our customers. ~Team IndiGo,” it added.
