Screaming flyer refuses to wear seatbelt, causes flight delay

A female passenger had a massive showdown with a flight attendant, screaming as she refused to put her seatbelt on.

Qatar and Virgin long-haul flights hit the aviation market

A passenger caused an hour-long flight delay after refusing to buckle her seat belt — and even screamed when flight attendants tried to calm her, as seen in a wild video.

The disruption occurred aboard a Batik Air flight that was slated to travel from Vietnam to Malaysia.

Crew members had been conducting pre-takeoff cabin checks when they noticed the woman, who was flying with her child, didn’t have her seat belt fastened.

When they asked her to put it on, the Vietnamese national threw a tantrum.

In the footage, filmed on a fellow passenger’s phone, the incensed traveller can be seen going at it with a female crew member who is standing over her in the aisle.

“Stop yelling at me,” said the flight attendant, as the passenger repeatedly shouted, “you pointed at my face”.

The flight attendant weathered the verbal barrage, calmly stating that the seatbelt “is for safety purposes, not just for you, but also for your child”.

“I don’t care, I don’t have to listen to you,” yelled the flyer.

Witnesses claimed that the spat resulted in an hour-long delay, during which authorities boarded the Boeing 737 and escorted the woman off the plane. The video showed passengers cheering while she was deplaning.

Commenters were quick to reprimand the flyer and also commend the crew member for remaining cool under pressure.

“Respect for the flight attendant, luckily it wasn’t me who had to face her,” said one video commenter.

Another wrote, “If the woman doesn’t want to wear a seatbelt, it’s up to her, the risk is on her.”

“Not if the plane goes through turbulence, she will be tossed around like she’s in a washing machine, falling on other passengers and injuring them,” a third wrote.

Indeed, experts claim that turbulence poses the greatest threat of physical injury aboard airplanes.

During the deadly Singapore Airlines turbulence incident in March — where the plane plunged 6000 feet in just minutes — the passengers who were most affected were reportedly not wearing seatbelts.“There was a very dramatic drop so everyone seated and not wearing seatbelt was launched immediately into the ceiling,” recalled Dzafran Azmir, a 28-year-old student who was aboard the ill-fated flight.
