An Australian man has been paraded in a prison orange after being detained in Bali over a shocking all-in brawl outside a popular beach club last week.

Mohamed Rifai, 27, was lined up with his hands ziptied in front of officials and media in Denpasar on Thursday, alongside eight security guards allegedly involved in the violence at Finns Beach Club in Canggu.

The Sydney man faces up to five years in jail if found guilty, according to Sydney Morning Herald reporters on the ground.

The publication said accounts from the bouncers described a man from Mr Rifai’s group, John Ebid, getting into a heated argument with another man after bumping into a woman. They were then kicked out.

Confronting footage shared on social media at the time showed shirtless foreigners fighting with security guards outside, including bashing them with what appeared to be blocks of wood.

Mr Rifai was the only one of five Australian tourists to be reported, according to SMH. But Mr Ebid filed his own report against the bouncers alleging he had been choked, punched and stepped on.

SMH said the security guards were detained and could face 5.5 years imprisonment if convicted because the fight was outside the beach club and allegedly beyond their operational zone, citing Bali police chief Daniel Aditya Jaya.

A woman, Daily Mail Australia identified as Mr Rifai’s mother, claimed in a video as she arrived at the police station, “they were all fighting in self-defence because they were attacked by security first”.

“The security started it and they had to fight back in defence. Well, they were trying to get out of the situation, that’s all,” she said.
