Qantas flight from Brisbane to Sydney listed as exposure site

Passengers on a Qantas flight between Brisbane and Sydney have been put on alert after a positive case of Covid-19.

How will COVID-19 testing work with international travel?

Passengers on a flight between Brisbane and Sydney have been declared close contacts after a confirmed case of Covid-19 was also on board.

Those who travelled on Qantas flight QF509, which departed Queensland a 7.10am local time and arrived in Sydney at 9.45am on October 9, have been told to get tested and isolate.

Vaccinated close contacts only need to isolate for seven days if they test negative on the sixth day after exposure.

“For the next seven days, vaccinated close contacts must still work from home where practicable, not attend hospitality settings such as cafes and restaurants, or attend high-risk settings,” NSW Health said.

Close contacts who are unvaccinated, have only had one dose, or received their second jab within 14 days of their exposure must continue to isolate for the full two weeks regardless of their test result.

It is unclear whether the case was a passenger or a worker.

The alert came after Queensland recorded another day of zero cases while NSW recorded 360, another steady decline in numbers.
