Australian father fights for life on dream Bali trip
A family holiday to Bali has turned into a living nightmare after an Australian father suffered a major health issue that’s left him in a critical condition.
A father has been left fighting for his life after suffering a brain haemorrhage while on holiday in Bali.
Family and friends have rallied behind the Australian family who had a dream family trip turned upside down after the major medical emergency.
Father of one Raj suffered a “massive” brain haemorrhage while travelling with his family in Bali and now faces a “life-threatening medical emergency” overseas according to friend Andrew Macqueen.
“He has been put into an induced coma where they have been working with both Doctors in Bali and Australia to keep him alive and stable,” he said.
“He is now in critical condition in the ICU where we are planning to send him home back to Australia via a repatriation flight with a team of medical experts and doctors.”
Doctors don’t yet know how much damage has been done to his brain but have told the family “the road to recovery is long”.
To add to the burden, the family’s insurance has declined support, meaning they will have to fund his medical evacuation to Australia themselves.
Raj now remains in a critical condition in a Bali hospital, but there was little sign that there was anything wrong with his health according to one friend.
He shared that he had been “snorkelling with Manta rays with Raj” just three days before he collapsed with the brain haemorrhage.
Mr Macqueen has set up a GoFundMe campaign to support the family through his time in hospital and medevac home.
“Every single donation, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in helping us bring our friend back to familiar surroundings and the care he desperately needs,” he said.
