The 2013 Travel Photographer of the Year winning images revealed

FROM rugged landscapes to glamorous cityscapes, local community festivities and thought-provoking moments, these images are not to be missed.

The emotive and inspiring images in the 2013 international Travel Photographer of the Year awards (TPOTY) document the sheer magnificence and astounding beauty and poignancy of this planet and its inhabitants.

The photographs offers us a glimpse into different lives and cultures, teaching us about others, and perhaps inspiring us to travel and learn more - about countries, cultures and people.

The pool of photos selected come from talented amateur and professional photographers who beat entrants from nearly 100 countries.

The top prize - the Cutty Sark Award for the Travel Photographer of the Year 2013 - goes to British photographer Timothy Allen for his black and white images of the mud mosque replastering festival and Dogon life in Mali, and his studies of individuals in Wales and Bhutan.
