Wolgan Valley, NSW

If you’re looking for a bit of celeb-spotting close to home, check in to Wolgan Valley Resort and Spa. Located about three hours from Sydney, the resort was opened by Emirates in 2009 as a world-class resort.

But the word ‘resort’ almost sells this place short. It’s so perfectly remote that mobiles don’t work, which is probably one of the reasons celebrities are flocking to the place.

Each suite comes with its own private temperature-controlled lap pool. If that isn’t enough luxury for you, you’ll also enjoy five-star dining, and activities as such as horseriding through the unique landscape.

News_Image_File: It was reported that Michael Clarke and Kyly Boldy booked the whole of the resort when they were married there in 2012.News_Image_File: Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke married Kyly Boldy at Wolgan Valley Resort.

Celebrities who’ve enjoyed the ultimate Australian getaway include Great Gatsby star Carey Mulligan and her husband Marcus Mumford (of Mumford and Sons), chef Marco-Pierre White, and Delta Goodrem. Michael and Kyly Clarke were married there, as were Hamish Blake and Zoe Foster.

But you’ll probably need the budget of a movie star or sports champion to afford it. A one-night stay at the resort will set you back $2050. And that’s just for the cheapest room, the Heritage Suite. If you really want to experience just how the stars live, you’ll need to book out the Wolgan Suite, for $5700. For that price you’ll get a 245sq m retreat, far removed from the main resort, with the option of staff to cater to your every whim.

Casa Aramara, Mexico

It’s one of the most luxurious private resort properties in the world and, being just a two hour flight from Los Angeles, Mexico’s Casa Aramara is a one of THE vacation destinations for Hollywood’s A-list.

The sprawling seaside retreat is owned by famed media entrepreneur Joe Francis the only five star private residence in Punta Mita, Mexico. A-listers from Jennifer Aniston, Eva Longoria, Demi Moore, and the Kardashian family have paid the getaway a visit.

Last month, newlyweds Kim and Kanye took time out there with baby North, and in December, 2012 Extra host Mario Lopez tied the knot with Courtney Mazza in an intimate ceremony.

At $15,000 a night it’s the kind of luxury that’s out of this world but there are many other amazing resorts in Mexico that deserve a visit.

Ibiza

It’s a legendary, sun-soaked hangout that celebs such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Kim Kardashian and Jared Leto flock to. With amazing beaches by day and the hottest nightclubs to head to once the sun goes down, what more could you want in a holiday destination?

Ibiza has even landed a World Heritage Site listing due to its magnificent architecture, coastline and sealife.

Once the party’s over for the night, you’ll be relaxing in style, as only the best hotels are allowed here. That’s because in 2007 the local government passed a law that all new hotels in Ibiza must be five-star. Get ready to live it up.

Necker Island

News_Image_File: Just three hours from New York.

Want to holiday like a billionaire? If you’re cashed up and looking for the ultimate in exclusive holiday luxury, there’s no place like Necker. Richard Branson’s 74 acre Necker Island is situated in the British Virgin Islands just a three hour flight from New York and has always been a symbol of total privacy. The richest of the rich flock to Branson’s pride and joy where you can help yourself behind the bar, have lunch and dinner in your bikini and have your meals served by a chef in a canoe in the beachside pool.

The resort was recently the venue for Kate Moss’ 40th birthday, where Google co-founder Larry Page was married and where everyone from Diana Princess of Wales to Hollywood stars Kate Winslet, Eddie Murphy, Robert De Niro and Mariah Carey have chillaxed. Most of the year, Necker costs £39,000 ($69,000) per night split between 30 guests. A cool $2,300 each if you’ve got 29 friends and a penchant for an private island party. For six weeks a year, however, it’s possible to book individual rooms at (slightly) cheaper rates. Seven nights on Necker during special Celebration Weeks cost from £16,900 per couple ($29,969), all-inclusive. You’d need to give the bar a pretty good workout for that price.

Chateau Marmont

While not strictly a holiday hot spot like Bali or Barbados, the Chateau Marmont is definitely a place frequented by the rich and famous. The hotel located in West Hollywood, California features a plethora of slick bars and suites reminiscent of old Hollywood.

At any time of the day you will see familiar faces such as Lindsay Lohan and Taylor Swift running from the Chateau to a dark-windowed car as they scurry from the paparazzi but you know they secretly love the flashes.

If you’re keen to get in on the act, you can book a standard room from AUD$465 or you can just pop into Bar Marmont for a cocktail between 6pm and 2am seven days a week.
