Travel Deal Tuesday: The best holidays bargains of the week

With the European summer just around the corner, this crazy sale could have you flying to Greece or Germany for less than $350.

Insider's Guide to cheap flights

As the mornings get getting colder and the days shorter, that feeling of summer is quickly becoming a distant memory.

But thankfully, as winter creeps upon us, the European summer is only just starting to heat up — and getting to places surrounding the Mediterranean couldn’t get any cheaper.

News.com.au’s Travel Deal Tuesday will bring you three of the best bargains from around the world each week, offering our favourite holiday specials and package deals.

FLY TO EUROPE FROM $309

This week, budget airline Scoot launched a string of cheap flights from Australian cities to popular locations around the world, including Singapore, Hong Kong and Phuket.

But the real winner for us is flying to Greece for less than $330 one way.

Scoot has launched flights to Europe — including Athens — from just $329 when departing Sydney and Melbourne.

As part of their April sale, passengers can book a trip to Athens from $309 out of Perth, $319 from the Gold Coast and $329 from Sydney and Melbourne.

But if you’re hoping to go a little further north — a similar offer applies to Berlin in Germany, where passengers can snap up a deal at an identical rate.

The budget airline is known for its wildly cheap flights, but this newest offering could be its cheapest yet. But you’ll need to be quick — the deal will only stick around until April 12 and while seats are available. Travellers need to be able to fly from April 8, 2019 and March 28, 2020.

Scoot’s Australian flights all pass through its hub in Singapore, one of the best and biggest airports to spend a layover in.

But be warned — while the prices are cheap at face value, the flight can balloon in cost when adding things like luggage and food.

Adding a 20kg bag incurs an additional cost of $74, while adding a 20kg bag and a meal, drink and snack will cost you an extra $137, according to the New Zealand Herald.

Eating your own food and beverages is also prohibited on Scoot flights, meaning if you’re hoping to save money for Europe, you may be facing a hungry wait to board.

But every international flight comes with a 10kg carry-on limit, so if you’re planning on just packing a few bikinis and a pair of shorts — this might be the flight for you.

VIETNAM AND RETURN FOR $550

Vietnam Airlines has announced a promotional fare deal on all flights travelling from Sydney and Melbourne to Ho Chi Minh City, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Hanoi.

Vietnam’s tourism industry is experiencing a boom. In 2018, travel booking site Webjet noted a decrease in travellers going to Bali, instead opting for flights to Vietnam.

“People are not going to Bali as frequently as they used to,” John Guscic from Webjet told news.com.au.

As part of the Vietnam Airlines sale, passengers can book a return flight from Australia for just $550 throughout April when departing from Sydney and Melbourne and travelling to Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang.

Travellers need to be able to fly from April 2, 2019 to February 28, 2020.
