If you thought heading to the snow would cost you an arm and a leg, these winter deals have dropped at just the right time to get you there for cheap.

As parts of the east coast are smashed by huge winds and heavy rain, the alpine region is enjoying every minute of the unseasonably cold weather and blizzard forming conditions.

Perisher and Thredbo have seen about 15cm of fresh snowfall overnight as conditions made their return to the resort.

The final week of autumn saw 75cm of snowfall between Monday and Thursday, prompting the resort to open early for the season last Friday.

Further south in Victoria, 20cm of natural snow has fallen over the past 48 hour, with clear conditions predicted for the long weekend.

According to accommodation website Wotif.com, the recent cold snap has caused a significant spike in “snow deal” searches in the past week.

Mount Buller has jumped by 110 per cent in search, while Perisher Valley and Thredbo have had an increase of 90 per cent.

So if you’re keen on checking out the slopes while the cold weather creates “some of the best conditions seen in 20 years” news.com.au’s Travel Deal Tuesday has found a few stellar deals that will get you there for cheap — with some early June bargains still available.

Thredbo hotel stay from $224 per night

If you’re keen on checking out the cosy town of Thredbo, this three nights stay through Wotif.com might be your best offer yet.

The accommodation — which is for two adults — is at Squatter’s Run Apartments and will set you back around $224 per person for three nights.

The last minute offer will save you close to 40 per cent on the normal rate if you can get away between now and Friday, June 7 and includes free parking and free internet.

If you’re keen on checking out Jindabyne instead, this hotel stay from $250 per night may be more to your liking.

At $750 for three nights for two adults, this last minute deal at Rydges Horizons Snowy Mountains is valid between Wednesday, June 5 and Friday, June 7, 2019, with the rate including breakfast, parking and internet.

If you’re after a slightly longer stay and also want to avoid the slopes during the weekend, this midweek deal will have you in Perisher from $80 per person, per night.

This offer is open to all guests at The Station throughout the winter season, including the New South Wales school holidays.

This deal is valid for stays from Sunday night only with accommodation in The Station’s motel rooms and this deal cannot be booked in conjunction will any other promotion or special.

Club Med Sahoro, Hokkaido, Japan

If you’re keen on testing out the slopes a little further abroad, a seven night stay in Hokkaido might be more to your liking.

From $2060 per person, you will get seven nights accommodation in a superior room at Club Med Sahoro, as well as ski lift and gondola passes to access the slopes for six days.

This Flight Centre deal is perfect for someone hitting the slopes for the first time, as five group ski or snowboard lessons will be included in the price as well as all meals and snacks throughout your stay, three gourmet meals each day as well as snacks.

Oh, and did we mention you’ll have a premium open bar, Wi-Fi, pool, gym and sauna access throughout your stay.

Seven nights in New Zealand from $1290

If you’re wanting to test the slopes over the ditch, this seven night stay near Christchurch might be the best deal we’ve seen all week.

Booking through Expedia, and just an hour’s drive from Christchurch International Airport, The Ski Time resort is the perfect spot to ski, explore and shop while in New Zealand.

Just five minutes walk from the town of Methven, the area has nine ski fields close by including Mt Hutt.

The stay will set you back less than $185 per person when staying between July 20-27, 2019 and will include free breakfast, internet and parking.

If you’re looking for a cheap flight deal to get there (well, almost), Qantas are launching new seasonal flights direct from Melbourne to Queenstown from June 21 until August 27, 2019 to meet the growing number of Australians seeking winter holidays in New Zealand over the peak ski season.

Qantas will operate three services per week between Melbourne and Queenstown (Tuesday, Friday, Sunday) which is more than 10,000 seats on the route over the winter peak.

As part the launch, the airline has a sale on one-way Economy flights from Melbourne to Queenstown for $238 when booked before June 7.
