If the cooler mornings have you daydreaming at your desk for blissful beaches and poolside cocktails, this sale to the “new Bali” might be the best holiday deal we’ve seen yet.

Air Asia is targeting Australian travellers with cheap fares on seven routes, all priced under $170 per person.

But the best flight is a fare that will get you to this once overlooked Indonesian island with fares starting from $99, a perfect excuse for a paradise getaway and a deal that’s caught our eye for this week’s Travel Deal Tuesday.

Lombok has been identified by the Indonesian Government as one of 10 ‘new Bali’ tourism focus destinations.

FLY TO LOMBOK FROM $99

The Indonesian island has long been overlooked by travellers in favour of neighbouring Bali, but with AirAsia kicking off direct flights from Perth to Lombok this month — the first direct connection since Jetstar pulled out of the route in 2014 — visitor numbers are tipped to grow.

Lombok has also been identified by the Indonesian Government as one of 10 “new Bali” tourism focus destinations, with investment flowing to the island in the wake of last year’s devastating earthquake.

Lombok has been dubbed the new Bali, with new fares starting from $99.

“Blissful beaches, top surfing and dive sites, and picturesque mountains are now easily accessible for Australians and I encourage those looking to book their next holiday to consider Lombok,” said AirAsia Indonesia CEO Dendy Kurniawan.

Lombok is a 25-minute flight from Bali’s Denpasar airport or you can also catch a one-hour fast boat from Bali to the Gili Islands off the coast of Lombok.

But you don’t have to live in Western Australia to get this deal, with a few other specials up for grabs during the sale event.

Forget winter, this is where you want to be spending your mid-year break.

If you’re in Brisbane, you can get to Bangkok from $169 per person, while a flight to Kuala Lumpur from the Gold Coast or Melbourne will set you back $139, or just $149 from Sydney.

AirAsia’s Sale includes five million seats across the network, and the airline is waiving credit card processing fees for customers who use the BigClick payment method (which saves your credit card details for future purchases).

The sale continues until 2am (AEST) Thursday, June 20, with flights available for travel between November 1, 2019 and September 8, 2020.
