Flight prices to one of Australia’s most popular holiday destinations have been slashed to less than $50 one way.

Flights to Byron Bay along with a string of other destinations are up for grabs, in a massive 1.5 million “cheap seat”’ sale.

Virgin Australia announced the massive sale as part of the airline’s post-Covid travel recovery, with some fares as low as $45.

The sale, which kicked off on the weekend and will end on April 4, includes routes to the ever popular Ballina/Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Cairns, Hobart, Melbourne and Hamilton Island.

Further abroad, fares can be snapped up for from $229 between Sydney and Fiji, Melbourne and Queenstown from $279 and Brisbane to Bali from $239.

The airline requires travel to take place between 27 July 2022 and 14 December 2022, making it the perfect pre-Christmas getaway.

A Virgin Australia Group spokesman said the airline was proud to launch the sale on 1.5 million seats.

“As we emerge from Covid, we are incredibly focused on providing travellers with some of the best value airfares you can find and our Back to Holidays sale is a really great example of just how irresistible it is to fly with Virgin Australia,” he said.

“We are also making it even more affordable for families to take their next holiday thanks to a 25 per cent bonus discount on sale fares booked for kids aged between two and 11.

“This is a really attractive offer for families which we know will go a long way in helping them return to travel again.”

The airline said they’d received demand domestically similar to 2019 levels, and that the “Back to Holiday” sale will kick that along even further.
