Jetstar launches cheap flights from Coolangatta, Gold Coast to Auckland

With the quarantine-free travel bubble opening up in less than two weeks, all eyes are on snapping up a bargain – and this fare is the best we’ve seen.

NZ travel bubble FAQs

With the quarantine-free travel bubble between Australia and New Zealand opening up in less than a fortnight, all eyes are on snapping up a bargain to get over the ditch.

After announcing on Tuesday that New Zealand will reopen its borders with Australia from April 19, Australians were quick to snap up flights, hotel and tours ahead of an upcoming visit.

Airbnb reported searches by Aussies for New Zealand getaways almost tripled in the day leading up to the hotly anticipated milestone announcement (when compared to the same day last week). Accommodation and flight booking group Wotif reported travel interest across the ditch spiked by as much as 1770 per cent for some parts of New Zealand, when compared to the week prior.

“At this stage we’re seeing the best value is available in the cities, with 10-40 per cent off select accommodation in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington, however there are some great deals available right across New Zealand,” Wotif managing director Daniel Finch said.

“As we’ve learnt over the last 12 months, it’s incredibly important travellers include built-in flexibility when booking their travel and prioritise deals with free-cancellation or reserve now, pay later options.”

To get you there, budget airline Jetstar has announced it will be slashing some fares to as little as $215 one way – however you’ll have limited time to snap up a bargain.

As part of the airline’s Friday Frenzy sale, Jetstar will be flinging fares from the Gold Coast (Coolangatta) to Auckland from just $215, and even less if you’re an Exclusive Club Jetstar member with trans-Tasman fares from just $175 one way.

Kicking off at 4pm on Friday, bargain hunters will have just five hours to snap up a cheap seat.
