Jetstar launches biggest ‘Return for Free’ sale of the year

Jetstar will fly people to Aussie destinations for as little as $62 – with the return trip free – in the biggest airfare sale of 2020.

Jetstar and Tourism Australia have partnered for the first time to launch the biggest airfare sale of the year to boost domestic tourism and help reunite family and friends after months apart.

The popular “Return for Free” sale will see 400,000 return trips available across 51 of Jetstar’s domestic routes, with one-way fares starting from just $65 and the return flight free.

Travel periods are from February 2021 onwards, and include popular destinations such as the Gold Coast, Cairns, Hobart, Uluru and Hamilton Island.

The sale follows Qantas’ centenary celebrations yesterday and complements Tourism Australia’s Holiday Here This Year campaign which encourages travellers to get out and explore Australia.

“As the only low fares carrier in Australia, we play a key role driving tourism and reviving an industry which has been significantly impacted by COVID-19,” Jetstar Group CEO Gareth Evans said.

“We expect the sale to be very popular, particularly for families keen to reconnect with loved ones after months apart, as well as those looking to take a well-earned break.

“We know there is a strong pent-up demand for domestic travel and we’re confident our low fares will help increase visitors and give a boost to local tourism operators across Australia.”

Hamilton Island is one of the destinations on the list.

• Avalon-Sydney from $65

• Brisbane-Sydney from $92

• Cairns-Darwin from $189

• Darwin-Melbourne (Tullamarine) from $205

• Hobart-Gold Coast (Coolangatta) from $159

• Launceston-Sydney from $89

• Melbourne (Tullamarine)-Ayers Rock (Uluru) from $165

• Sunshine Coast-Sydney from $96

• Sydney-Hamilton Island from $151

The sale starts at 3pm AEDT Tuesday, November 17, 2020 and runs until 11.59pm AEDT Thursday, November 19, 2020, unless sold out prior. Club Jetstar members have exclusive early access from 9am AEDT to 3pm AEDT Tuesday, November 17, 2020.
