Singapore Airlines has a longstanding reputation for pushing the boundaries of cabin innovation, so you can expect big things from their $A1.2 billion upgrade.

The national carrier has given passengers a sneak peak into its new first class cabins and business class seats that promises an “unparalleled in-flight experience”.

It forms part of the airlines billion dollar overhaul of its Airbus A350 long-haul and ultra-long-range aircraft.

There will be four new first class seats in its seven A3500-900ULR, 70 business class seats, and 58 premium economy class seats.

And while the airline hasn’t disclosed much detail about its fancy new cabins, a teaser video shows double doors opening to a spacious room for first class and a sliding door revealing

a stylish business class space.

“The new first class and business class seat designs will incorporate thoughtful elements that push the boundaries of comfort, luxury, and modernity, allowing our customers to relax or work effortlessly on board,” Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, said.

The Singapore-based airline said the seats are designed with increasingly discerning travellers in mind and set “new industry benchmarks for travel on the world’s longest routes”.

“Premium economy class and economy class customers can also look forward to refreshed cabin interiors that enhance their travel experience.”

Meanwhile, there will be 42 business class seats on 34 A350-900 long-haul aircraft, 24 premium economy class seats and 192 economy class seats.

The A350-900 long-haul aircraft currently operate out of Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Cairns.

He described the refit as “next-generation seats”, adding that the upgrades will “set new standards in innovation, customer experience, and service excellence.”

Mr Phong said the A350-900 first class and business class seats are designed from the ground up and are the same seat designs that will feature on the airline’s upcoming Boeing 777-9 aircraft.

The first retrofitted A350-900 long-haul aircraft is expected to enter service in the second quarter of 2026, while the first A350-900ULR variant will follow in the first quarter of 2027.

There will also be a new version of the KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system with “an extensive range of lifestyle options across all cabin classes”.

Last year, the airline took out the World’s Best Airline in the Skytrax World Airline awards.

The fifth time it won the prestigious accolade.

It took the top spot in four categories including Best First Class Airline, Best First Class Comfort Amenities, and Best Airline in Asia – so if that’s anything to go by, customers are in for a treat with its new fit-out.

The entire programme is targeted for completion by the end of 2030.
