Coronavirus outbreak sees Virgin Australia drop massive sale with domestic flights under $100

As coronavirus takes its toll on airlines around the world, 2020 is now the year of holidaying at home. And this bargain could be the best we’ve seen yet.

While coronavirus affects airlines around the world, 2020 has become the year of holidaying in our own backyard.

And this new flight sale from Virgin Australia proves there’s no better time to book a domestic holiday than right now.

Offering economy airfares Australia-wide from as low as $79, some of the fares are the perfect excuse to book a cheap and cheerful jaunt over the Easter break.

From today until midnight Monday, March 23, the majority of economy airfares will be priced under $100 – a bargain for the school holiday period.

Some of the highlights include:

• Sydney to Ballina (Byron Bay) from $79

• Sydney to Gold Coast from $89

• Melbourne to Sydney from $99

• Brisbane to Sydney from $99

• Adelaide to Melbourne from $99

• Sydney to Sunshine Coast from $99

• Brisbane to Whitsundays Coast from $99

• Brisbane to Melbourne from $119

• Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne to Darwin from just $169

But for the travellers wanting to fly at the pointy end of the plane, now is the perfect opportunity. The airline will be dropping selected domestic business class fares to as little as $250. But you’ll need to travel between March 2020 and December 2020 to nab the deal.

Earlier this week, AirAsia dropped its BIG Sale which has deals sitting from just $80 for international fares.

The rock bottom fares include flights from the Gold Coast to Kuala Lumpur from $80, Perth to Lombok and Bali from $89 plus low onward fares to more than 160 destinations (spanning across Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, India, Japan, Korea and Taiwan).

To put those prices into perspective, if you were to book a Jetstar flights from Sydney to Melbourne (a 1.5-hour trip) during the same period, you’d be looking at paying $82.

Six million promotional seats are being offered, for travel between September 7, 2020 and July 1, 2021.
