As well as the traditional beachside hotels in the Maldives, Bora Bora and the Bahamas, this year hotels with water parks, rivers and lagoons made the global hotel specialist's annual list.
South Africa's action-packed water adventure park The Palace of the Lost City is set amid 25 hectares of botanical jungle, but is featured on the list thanks to a host of winding cascades, waterfalls and lagoons.
Atlantis The Palm on manmade island Palm Jumeirah in Dubai made the list with its Lost Chambers Suites, offering guests underwater views of the manmade Ambassador Lagoon from the bedroom and bathroom.
