It’s a listing unlike any other and it’s bound to generate plenty of attention.

Just when you thought South Korea couldn’t get any cooler and quirkier, out it comes with a listing that’s literally situated on the popular Hangang Bridge in Seoul.

The designer home overlooks the iconic river, conceived and brought to life by Airbnb in collaboration with the City of Seoul.

It’s to help attract more tourists to Korea’s vibrant and dynamic capital following last year’s overnight stay at Dongdaemun Design Plaza hosted by K-pop powerhouse ENHYPEN.

The unique listing isn’t hard to spot. It’s located on the northern end of Hangang Bridge and styled with aluminium louvers.

If you’re heading to Seoul and keen to try something different, bookings officially open at 9am on July 1, with guests welcomed from July 17.

Dave Stephenson, Airbnb’s chief business officer said already, there is anticipation that Sky Suite Hangang Bridge will become a go-to destination for visitors seeking to immerse themselves in the various festivals and events along the Han River.

The 11 things you need to try in South Korea

“By sharing the stunning views of the Han River with the world, we believe this will help put Seoul on the global map and serve as one of the critical initial steps in transforming the river into a location where the city’s charms can be enjoyed,” he told news.com.au.

He said guests can enjoy a picnic feast at Han River Park with K-food staples like fried chicken, pizza, and tteokbokki.

“Don’t miss the chance to savour Han River’s iconic treat, Hangang Ramen, favoured by many K-pop stars and [be sure to visit] Nodeul Island, located a quick 7-minute walk away,” Mr Stephenson added. “Feel like the star of your own K-drama as you relax and explore the area. Don’t forget to head to the Han River Bridge for a panoramic view of the river.”

The moment guests step foot inside the spacious 144m² property they’re greeted with wild views of the river thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows.

There’s even a clear glass ceiling installed in the bedroom for guests to fall asleep beneath a starry night sky.

The stay, which is Korea’s first bookable listing on the Hangang Bridge, will be available throughout the year on Airbnb with prices starting from 345,000 KRW ($A379) to 500,000 KRW ($A550).

It comes as the destination continues to rise in popularity, particularly among Aussie travellers.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, there has been a staggering 28 per cent increase in the number of Australians visiting the hotspot since 2019 pre-covid figures.

“South Korea is increasingly becoming a hit among Aussies for its undeniably distinct cultural charm – and it’s only a matter of time before Hallyu, the so-called ‘Korean Wave’, sweeps the globe,” Inside Travel Group national sales manager Nicole Newport previously told news.com.au.

She said while it’s hard to not draw comparisons to Japan, South Korea is truly in its own league.

“It really is a land of contrasts – from ambitiously hi-tech to captivatingly traditional, offering cherry blossom viewing spots, majestic hiking trails and of course, tantalising culinary offerings,” she said.

It also happens to be Inside Asia Tour’s number one destination, representing 48 per cent of all bookings in 2024.

Ms Newport said most Aussies are attracted to its bustling capital, Seoul, for its incredible night-life from hidden bars to quirky speak-easies, and for its thriving baseball scene.

Andrew Stark, global managing director of Flight Centre, said it’s no surprise to see a spike in Aussies visiting the country.

“It’s a destination that people are curious about, and it has a lot to offer,” he told news.com.au.

He drew particular attention to Jeju Island, noting it offers pristine beaches, waterfalls, volcanic cones, lava tube caves and many jaw-dropping natural wonders that are “absolutely bucket-list-worthy”.

“Up to 70 per cent of South Korea is covered in stunning mountainous landscape, making it perfect for nature and thrill seekers alike with world-class hiking easy to reach from most cities,” he added.

Mr Stark said Flight Centre is seeing huge interest in adventure travel as people are prioritising experiences in their budgets over all other discretionary choices.

“More and more travellers are asking our experts to find them an experience that combines the best of both worlds, adventure and comfort, and South Korea certainly does just that.”
