‘Unusual’ Bali property Private Jet Villa Uluwatu goes viral

An “insane” villa in Bali is doing the rounds on social media for one very specific reason — it was once a functional plane.
The Boeing 737 has been transformed into what is now called the Private Jet Villa Uluwatu, on a cliff 150 metres above sea level.
It has been dubbed as an “unusual” yet “magical” style of accommodation known for having its own pool, garden, sun terrace and outdoor fireplace.
However, its standout feature is its living, lounge and dining areas that spread out onto the jet wings and hang over Nyang Nyang Beach.
“This private Jet Villa in Bali is just insane,” one person wrote on TikTok alongside drone footage of the property.
“What a stunning villa!,” another wrote.
“We stayed at the villa next to this villa when its (sic) still being built and we were so amazed even though we only had a peek through the wall fence,” a third added.
The owner is avid world traveller Felix Demin, a Russian entrepreneur, who was living in China before moving to Bali eight years ago.
He enlisted the help of former banker Alexander Lebedev, who invested in his unique concept. After two-years of construction, it is now a fully-fledged and operational villa.
The aircraft, originally in service in Indonesia, was purchased in Bali and reallocated by Mr Demin after he “finally” found a perfect spot for it — perched atop the Nyang Nyang Cliffs in Uluwatu, boasting some of Bali’s most spectacular coastline.
“Externally and structurally, this is a jet aircraft that we have turned into a luxury hotel,” he explains on his website.
The project was halted in 2020 due to Covid. Mr Demin experienced several setbacks, describing it as his most “complicated projects” in a detailed post.
It involved having to take the plane apart and then transferring it to the new location and have it resembled again.
But fast-forward to December 2023, his dream property came to life — and is now one of the most prestigious luxury retreats in the world.
“I just stayed there last week. It was the coolest experience ever!” one person raved on TikTok.
Its unique and luxurious design is a content creator’s dream with influencers flooding TikTok with various clips showing off the villa.
“Definitely on my bucket list,” one person wrote.
“I was there last year (in) December but it was still in the early stages of its construction. Would love to come back,” said another.
According to its site, guests board the aircraft by stairs straight into The Cabin dining & bar space with its “cozy sofa where glass folding doors open directly onto the outdoor Wing Lounge”.
“The elegant design elements seem to float you into the clouds, above the stunning coastline immersing you in sunrise and sunset taking your breath away,” it continues.
The two-suite villa which houses four people also has a helipad for those seeking the complete luxury experience of chartering a helicopter.
It is equipped with advanced smart control systems that can be easily managed using an iPad. Within the cockpit, a jacuzzi is surrounded by smart glass, which can swiftly switch from opaque to transparent with a simple touch, revealing an awe-inspiring vista.
Given it cost a reported $15 million, one night at the villa is surprisingly not cheap. One night with breakfast included will set you back $3,576 via booking.com when looking at dates in February.
“Wayyyyyy too much,” one person posted on TikTok when the price tag was shared.
“Agree. It’s unique, but over priced for BALI,” a second person added.
A third argued the price is “right” for those willing to stay there.
“Idk about you but I’ve never seen a plane home so you’re paying for the experience and uniqueness,” a fourth said.
Others claimed while it was “overpriced”, it was still “unique”.
