Park Hyatt review: Hotel offer insane room deal for Vivid 2024

Its arguably one of the most sought after rooms in winter. And if you plan on catching the most spectacular light display in the country — you only have hours left.

Sydney’s CBD lights up as Vivid festival begins

It’s arguably one of the most magical times of the year to visit Sydney — even if you’ll be swapping the balmy summer nights for your favourite woollen beanie.

Vivid 2024 has been a sensation, with a range of mega light installations, music performances, food festivals and experiences on offer each night for the past two weeks.

But now, Sydneysiders have just hours left before the final night of festivities kick off.

Expecting to perhaps bring in one of the biggest crowds to date, the final night of the festival will see the popular ‘Love is in the Air’ Drone Show take to the sky around 9pm.

Alongside the display, there is must-see installations at Haymarket and Ultimo, throughout Darling Harbour, the CBD (Pitt Street), Barangaroo, Walsh Bay, Circular Quay and the incredible ‘Lightscape’ display at the Royal Botanical Gardens.

But for a truly unparalleled view of what’s arguably the best seat (or bed) in the city — there’s only one place to stay for the perfect vantage point.

Without even having to leave their room, guests of the luxurious Park Hyatt hotel can relax and unwind in their robes (yes, please) while sipping champagne from their balcony — all while taking in the magic of Vivid as the light show unfolds against the backdrop of the city’s most iconic landmarks.

And yes, there’s still a handful of rooms available for the final night of Vivid to lap up one of the most lavish stays in town.

Dubbed the Vivid at the Park stay package — offered by the hotel throughout the duration of Vivid — the package includes a two-night stay in a select room (pending on which package is chosen), complete with full breakfast for up to two guests daily in The Dining Room (which has uninterrupted views both day and night).

Guests will also enjoy the convenience of valet parking (because let’s face it, finding a street space during Vivid is just not an option).

In addition, guests will receive a generous $350 dining credit, redeemable once per stay, to be enjoyed in any of the hotel’s dining outlets.

When you do haul yourself out of the comfort of your 5-star room, you won’t be disappointed by an after-dark dinner at the Dining Room by James Viles.

Throughout Vivid, guests will enjoy delicious plates inspired by the colour, creativity and energy of Vivid with its set menu priced at $125 per person. Some of the menu’s highlights include lightly cured kingfish with cultured cream, pomelo and verde cavatelli or the O’Connor tenderloin with unearthed mushrooms and kampot pepper sauce.

But make sure to leave room for dessert, which has been dubbed a “creative highlight” of the hotel’s menu.

The Valrhona 80 per cent komontu chocolate pudding with warm chocolate mousse was an absolute favourite for most. But guests cannot go past the Crimson Spin — a visual masterpiece on a plate embracing Vivid’s ‘Humanity’ theme. The dessert engages Leonardo da Vinci’s helicopter drawings and Damien Hirst’s spin paintings.

It really is a dessert to be hold — with flavours to match.

Sitting between the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the location of the Park Hyatt is perhaps the best location possible during the event.

Stroll the Light Walk along the waterfront — just footsteps from the hotel’s lobby. Or witness the harbour transform into a dynamic canvas, as the historic Customs House and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia’s come alive.

This year, the Sydney Opera House sails will be transformed each night by a projected tapestry of fabric for 2023 Archibald Prize winner Julia Gutman’s reimagining of the Narcissus myth — creating a truly unique spectacle.

But the stay doesn’t come cheap — with packages starting from $1280 per night in one of the hotel’s King rooms with a minimum stay of 2 nights.
