Incredible James Bond-inspired floating hotel is beyond incredible

Looking more like a spaceship, and not much bigger than a small studio apartment — this hotel will cost you hundreds of thousands.

James Bond enthusiasts can stay in a floating hotel suite inspired by the legendary spy.

However, it comes at a price — a cool $775k to buy the pod.

Dubbed the “first floating eco-lux hotel suite”, Anthenea features 360-degree views thanks to the glass windows surrounding the circular pod.

Inside the pod is a circular kingsize bed and a bath that can be filled with either freshwater or seawater.

A lounge area and breakfast room also fit inside, meaning you never need to leave.

Swimmers can access the suite from beneath thanks to an underwater well in true secret agent style.

The luxury pod also doesn’t use any fossil fuels and solar panels are used to run the electricity. Twelve people can fit into the solarium placed on top that features a bar and a rotating umbrella.

While it has taken 15 years and five prototypes to create the Anthenea, which was originally only intended for the hotelier and hospitality industry, it is now available for commercial sale to all Bond aficionados for the princely sum of $775,000.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pod is more stable than a boat and — depending on where it’s docked — can resist a cyclone and adapt to any water body in any climate.

It was designed by French architect Jean-Michel Ducancelle, who cited the 1977 film The Spy Who Loved Me as his inspiration.

Mr Ducancelle told THR that he watched the movie when he was 15, and the villain’s aquatic hide-out was the model for his suite.

He added he was “drawn to the story of this man who gives up everything to live under the sea”.

The end of the film, where James Bond and Bond Girl Anya Amasova sit on the floating pod, was the “start of Anthenea”.

There is currently only one Anthenea showroom, situated off the coast of France, but Mr Ducancelle hopes to attract more interest in his eco-pod by hosting events with one planned for the 2020 Cannes Film Festival.
