How you can rent Matt Damon’s luxury Airbnb in Ireland village

Boasting five bedrooms and a pool that links via a lazy river to an indoor lagoon, this is Matt Damon’s Airbnb home – and it will soon be up for rent.

How Instagram is ruining holidays

Sure, the thought of renting a luxury Airbnb more than 15,000km away from Australia isn’t a logical one right now – but who says you can’t do a bit of daydreaming?

As the COVID-19 global pandemic brought the world to a standstill, some A-listers used the lockdown period to bunker down in lush properties around the world.

Matt Damon spent the travel-restricted period in a luxury Airbnb, sitting by the sea in a quaint Irish village. But it turns out, Damon will be vacating the property and it will shortly become available to rent again, according to Lonely Planet.

The Hollywood A-lister relocated with his family to the stunning home in Dalkey, Dublin, so he could finish shooting scenes for historical drama-thriller, The Last Duel.

It is understood they were forced to stay in the $11,650-per-week rental when the shoot was postponed because the US banned flights between itself and Europe.

The exclusive $13 million home, which is owned and built by former Ferrari Formula 1 racing star, Eddie Irvine, boasts five massive bedrooms and spans 5000 square-feet (464.5sq m).

Despite being booked for the past few months, the home – named Ischia – will be back up for holiday rentals. The house caters for 10 guests, and features five bathrooms, a living room, dining room, sauna, study, cinema room and projector plus a snooker and games room.

The outdoor pool meanders via a lazy river to an indoor lagoon, which also has a lush poolside bar.

Situated near pubs, bars and restaurants – Damon said his stay in the town of Dalkey has been “incredible”.

“(Within) two kilometres of here, there’s trees and forests and woods and ocean,” he said in a radio interview with Spin 1038. “I can’t think of any place you’d rather want to be in a 2km radius.”

The property will be available to rent on Airbnb from May 31, 2020.
