Hotel revels in ‘discriminatory’ job ad for receptionist

A HOTEL has sparked controversy by announcing a vacancy for a receptionist. There’s just one catch — and it’s a pretty big one ...

A HOTEL in Dublin has courted controversy by announcing a vacancy for “an Irish receptionist in our 30 bedroom, three-star hotel”.

The hotel, which was at the centre of negative press reports over raised prices in February, posted the ad on Facebook. “The candidate needs to be Irish,” notes the post. Those who disagree with the policy are told they are “welcome to sue.”

Despite the controversial nature of the post there have been a number of supportive messages. Under the original facebook post, user Linda Redmond wrote “You are my employer of the year,”, while Denise Sheehan added “I fecking love what you just wrote,” and Mike Beck said “love your style”.

The post concludes with the words, “For those of you who believe that our stance is discriminatory, you are dead right. For the past 15 years, 90 per cent of our staff have been non-nationals. It is time we put an end to this discrimination against Irish people.

“Enough is enough folks.”
