In a video posted to reddit with the caption: “Our gay cruise just rescued a sinking refugee ship in The Gulf of Mexico,” viewers can see the cruise’s rescue boat jumping into action and approaching the sinking refugee ship.

“They were waving white flags like crazy. Once we got close you could see them bailing a ton of water using some type of bucket,” the original poster commented.

The cruise’s yellow rescue vehicle travelled to and from the refugee boat, bringing them to the safety of the ship in groups.

The cruise sent out their yellow rescue boat, which began to rescue the 11 passengers and brought the refugees to their cruise ship where they received first aid, food, and warm clothes.

A statement from the vacation company said that the rescued individuals were provided with medical assistance, food, water, as well as warm clothing.

VACAYA, the LGBTQ+ vacation company that chartered the ship said that this was the first time they conducted a maritime rescue in their eight years of operation.

Passengers on board came together to support the rescued individuals and gathered dry clothing, while Royal Caribbean ensured they received immediate medical attention, as reported by VACAYA representatives.

The passengers and crew rallied to save the refugees, and VACAYA CEO Randle Roper said it was one of the most emotional moments of his career. Many online applauded the cruise’s actions.
