Royal Caribbean is under fire after a lawyer slammed the popular cruise line for its “absolutely horrifying” results following an inspection by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Spencer Aronfeld, also known as @cruiseshiplawyer on TikTok, posted a video exposing several shortcomings on the Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas ship. This included “improperly stored” raw eggs and raw hamburgers at incorrect temperatures, and crew members at Johnny Rockets allegedly working with open wounds and touching ice with bare hands.

He also mentioned the cruise line allowed “poor kids to spread a potential norovirus to their parents and other passengers on the ship”.

“Several children came down with severe GI problems while in their daycare centres, and the daycare centre failed to follow the protocols for referring them to the medical centre and for reporting these things as acute gastrointestinal illnesses, projectile diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal cramps to the CDC,” he explained.

The legal expert, who “sues cruise lines for a living”, revealed the CDC gave the ship a “barely satisfactory” score of 86 in the inspection report.

“One point less, which is an 85, would have been an unsatisfactory evaluation, which probably would have caused them to have to cancel the cruise,” Aronfeld warned in the video.

“Quite frankly, I think they should have.”

Aronfeld predicted Royal Caribbean will need to pay around USD$65,000 (approximately A$101,890) to fix the problems within the short time frame.

The saga continued in a follow up video posted last Friday, in which Aronfeld revealed the Royal Caribbean has yet to issue a report stating its plans to fix the problems outlined by the CDC.

“Which lends me to believe they haven’t fixed it,” he said.

“Which means that these problems are still existing.”

“The ship is sailing, and it’s got passengers on board right now, but I sure hope that Royal Caribbean has done at least enough to correct these issues, but they should have at least reported it to the CDC,” he said.

The videos have left some viewers “disappointed”.

“That was me last week on Symphony and came home to the flu and strep throat. I did everything like always since this was my 6th Royal cruise,” one person commented.

“Cruises are disgusting …” Is this surprising?” another chimed in.
