How to rent Carrie Bradshaw’s Airbnb apartment for $31 per night

Sex and the City viewers scoffed at Carrie’s ability to rent a fancy apartment in New York - but a handful of lucky fans will get the opportunity to do just that.

If you can’t help but wonder what it would be like to be Carrie Bradshaw for a day, now’s your chance.

For just $23USD ($A31) a night, Airbnb is offering guests a chance to stay at a re-creation of the iconic Sex and the City character’s brownstone apartment — walk-in closet included.

While Sarah Jessica Parker’s Bradshaw notoriously lived on a writer’s salary in a spacious Upper East Side one-bedroom — that would cost at least $3000 USD ($A4020) a month today — this nostalgic sojourn will instead be in New York’s Chelsea neighbourhood, for the cost of a Cosmopolitan.

The Airbnb stay — the first of its kind for two lucky parties — is in celebration of the upcoming release of the HBO Max Original, And Just Like That.

Parker, 56, personally helped craft the reproduction of the famous residence, which will offer guests rare access to the style icon’s wardrobe — including her beloved tutu from the opening credits and shoes from her SJP line.

In fact, the apartment is a treasure trove of replicas Sex and the City fans will fondly recall, and even includes a circa-2000 cordless phone for chatting about sex with girlfriends and a laptop to get your creative-writer juices flowing.

“We worked hand-in-hand with Warner Bros. and Sarah Jessica Parker to re-create the space in the most authentic way possible, full of Easter eggs to surprise and delight fans,” Airbnb spokesperson Liz DeBold Fusco said, noting that the facsimile will “look and feel like the cozy, homey space Carrie created”.

“Her apartment was eclectic without being cluttered, and it told the story of her personality with the never-ending piles of Vogues, overflowing closet, and, of course, the Post-it notes,” she added.

While Ms Fusco said there “aren’t any items from the show on set,” the team paid close attention to detail to ensure it looks authentically Bradshaw with “an exact match” of Carrie’s bedspread, her tutu, her Carrie nameplate necklace, the chair ex-boyfriend Aiden gifted her and the beloved Eiffel Tower bag she carried around town on dates with Mr. Big, which was a “handmade designer item,” said Samantha Brown, who went on “the ultimate scavenger hunt” to curate the closet with dozens of pieces that bring Carrie’s aesthetic to life.

“The Eiffel Tower bag was difficult to source,” the stylist told The New York Post of the Timmy Woods minaudiere, which has been in various fashion auctions and retailed for about $3000 USD ($A4020).

“I scoured the web to find it, brand new!”

And as Parker encourages in a press release, renters can play dress up with the designer clothes.

“I’m excited for our audience to experience Carrie’s New York like never before and walk in her shoes, quite literally, for the first time,” she said.

Two stays in total are being offered at the special $A31 price (plus taxes and fees), and up to two guests are allowed to enjoy the one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment.

The home will be available on November 12 and 13.

During their stay, lucky guests will get the full treatment, which includes:

- A virtual greeting at check-in from Parker herself, and a narration reminiscent of each episode’s thought-provoking intro.

- The opportunity to descend the steps of her brownstone and stroll the streets of Manhattan (but the splash from a city bus is not included).

- Brunch in the Chelsea neighbourhood and a round of Cosmopolitans for guest and friends to toast with.

- The chance to play dress-up in Carrie’s iconic closet, complete with her favourite looks (such as the Patricia Field tutu she wears in the opening credits), designers, and, of course, shoes.

- A styling session and photo shoot where guests can channel their inner fashionistas.

Fans interested in walking in Carrie’s shoes can reserve their stays beginning November 8, at noon ET, or for fans hoping to book it from Australia in AEDT - at 3am on November 9.

“It’s been 23 years since I first stepped into Carrie’s shoes, and now, it’s your turn,” the listing states.

In reality, Bradshaw’s apartment — nor the affordable rent she paid — actually doesn’t exist.

On the show, Parker’s unlucky-in-love character only paid $700 ($A983) per month for the apartment she rented at 245 E. 73rd St.

However, that address does not exist, since the last door on the block, near Second Avenue, is No. 243.

Most of the shots seen on the hit show were actually filmed in the West Village, at the stoop of 66 Perry St.

Countless fans have gathered to snap photos of the iconic facade, which has drawn ire from the building owners over the years.

Parker herself even once infuriated the owners and neighbours of the townhouse after she staged a photo shoot on the storied stoop for her shoe line.

“The situation with SATC visitors is still very intense,” the Perry Street Association told Page Six.

“People who live here get upset that the sidewalks are constantly jammed.”
