World’s fastest rollercoaster is coming to Saudi Arabia’s new theme park

The tallest, fastest and longest rollercoaster in the world is set to open in Saudi Arabia in 2023. And it’s going to be terrifying.

Terrifying 250km/h rollercoaster revealed

The Falcon’s Flight could hit dizzying speeds of up to 250km/h.

The ride is just one of the record-breaking attractions that will feature at the new Six Flags Qiddiya in Saudi Arabia.

A video mock-up shows a four-carriage ride, each carrying four passengers, that’s designed to look like a robotic falcon.

The ride features several gravity-defying loops as well as winding tracks through the canyons.

Launch-powered drops will hit speeds up to 250km/h according to the footage.

The 32ha Six Flags Qiddiya will have six lands — the City of Thrills, Discovery Springs, Steam Town, Twilight Gardens, Valley of Fortune and Grand Exposition.

A total of 28 rides and attractions are currently planned.

Falcon’s Flight will feature in the City of Thrills, along with the tallest drop-tower ride in the world, Sirocco Tower.

However, social media users aren’t so keen.

“Until it is built and running I’m very sceptical,” tweeted Jake Roberts. “Who is building this coaster? Have they released a manufacturer or any spec? The video is weird and sped up.”

“I’m Saudi and take this from me it’s all animation and it won’t happen, just talk no walk,” someone added.

Another person wrote: “Yeah, I’m sure this’ll actually be built.”

Six Flags first opened in 1961 in Texas.

It has since opened 19 parks across the US, Mexico and Canada, with the first Six Flags in China to open next year.

Falcon’s Flight will beat the current fastest rollercoaster in the world — Formula Rossa in Abu Dhabi.

The Ferrari World ride currently accelerates from zero to 241km/h in just five seconds.

Other exciting rollercoaster openings include a 21-storey gigacoaster in Kings Island in the US.

The ride, called a gigacoaster for having drops more than 92 metres, also reaches speeds up to 146km/h.

Brits can have fun in the UK on the Stealth, which goes from zero to 129km/h.
