Western Australia is known for having some of the best coastline in the world, but one “hidden” gem has blown tourists away.

Injidup Natural Spa, or Wyadup Rocks as it is also known, in the Margaret River region, is a secluded rock pool sitting on the edge of the Indian Ocean.

It is about a three-hour drive south of Perth (around 260km) near the small town of Yallingup – and Aussies and tourists alike are obsessed.

Social media has become inundated with viral clips showing off the swimming hole’s stunning rock formation and crystal clear waters, with TikToker and Aussie traveller Jack Reid naming it his favourite spot in the state.

“Injidup Natural Spa is an awesome place to come down during the day. I love it during both sunset and sunrise,” he said in a recent clip.

“The unique natural spa that it creates as the waves crash over the rocks is absolutely awesome to come for a swim.

“You can even have a little snorkel around and just watch as the waves crash into the rocks.”

As the rock pool has become a huge attraction, Mr Reid, who is known on TikTok as ‘WA Travel Adventurer’, recommends people avoid going during school holidays or a long weekend.

“Come out at sunrise when it’s nice and quiet and you can have it all to yourself. Otherwise it’s actually just not that much fun, but definitely a must-see if you’re down this way.”

His clip has been viewed almost half a million times with hundreds of comments from fellow Aussies also raving about the hotspot.

“Best part of Australia,” one person wrote.

“I’ve been there and it’s amazing,” wrote another, while a third added: “It’s beautiful, no exaggeration.”

The natural spa is a short walk down some rocky outcrops towards a series of larger boulders.

However, while it is a quaint little natural pool to sit in, it can turn into a more turbulent “spa” with waves tumbling over the rocks, so it’s recommended to be extremely careful and

follow warning signs.

In 2020, a 23-year-old woman died after she was swept off rocks at the popular tourist spot.

Two friends jumped into the water but could not rescue her.

There is a sign at the beach that warns tourists about large breaking waves and swells, slippery rocks and loose surfaces, as well as strong currents.

“Tragically there have been a few Injidup Natural Spa deaths due to visitors climbing up on to the rocks and being swept away by large, powerful waves,” the TikToker said.

“You may see people climbing on the rocks to take a photo or to access some of the rock pools further north, but it can be dangerous.

“The rocks are slippery when wet, and the ocean current can be strong with king waves that can hit at any time and pull you into the water.”

The travel blogger warns that despite being labelled a natural spa, it can be turbulent, “so please be careful”.
