Body found at WA beach one month after woman swept off rocks
A shocking discovery was made at a popular WA beach about one month after a woman vanished when she was swept off rocks.
A body found at a beach in Western Australia’s South West region is believed to be a woman who was swept off rocks at a popular tourist spot last month.
The 23-year-old woman had been visiting the natural spa at Injidup Beach, near Yallingup, with three friends on October 25 when she was swept away.
Two friends jumped into the water but could not rescue her. They were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police confirmed the following day that the woman could not swim and the search had become a “recovery operation”.
On Monday, police said a member of the public had found a body at Injidup Beach just before 10am on Sunday.
“The deceased is believed to be a 23-year-old woman that was swept from rocks … however, formal identification has yet to be completed,” police said.
Singaporean student Heng Yi Goh, 23, was also swept into the ocean in the same area in June. His body was found a few weeks later.
In 2016, a 25-year-old man died after jumping from rocks in the same area.
