Virginia Giuffre’s brother has spoken out after the Jeffrey Epstein accuser claimed she had just “days to live”.
Ms Giuffre captured global attention when she shared a photo to social media last month which alleged she had been involved in a bus crash, and hospitalised with kidney failure.
The West Australian resident, who was allegedly trafficked by Epstein to have sex with Prince Andrew when she was a teenager, said she had been involved in a car accident with a school bus and had “gone into kidney renal failure”.
Many were left confused after local police said they only had a record of a “minor” crash and were unaware of any injuries.
Sky Roberts said his sister never explicitly said her injuries were caused by the bus crash.
“Let’s be clear, she never stated that the bus accident was the cause of all her other injuries,” Roberts told People.
“But I do think that the bus crash in some way, shape, or form, saved her life.”
He said the crash may have saved her life by alerting her to the internal conditions mentioned in the post, which may have been sustained beforehand.
WA Police said they had one record of a “minor” bus and car collision with “no reported injuries” in the state.
The crash happened in Neergabby, 20km north of Perth, on March 24 just after 3pm.
“The collision was reported by the bus driver the following day. The car sustained approximately $2000 worth of damage,” a spokesperson said.
The school bus driver involved in the crash has also spoken, claiming he was overtaking a slow moving car when it suddenly turned right.
It has also been revealed that Giuffre appeared in court for allegedly breaching a family violence restraining order just days before her social media post.
The alleged breach happened in early February and Giuffre’s first appearance at the Magistrates Court in Joondalup, WA, was on March 14.
No plea was entered at the hearing and the matter is next listed for April 9.
Ms Giuffre sued the Duke of York for sexual abuse in August 2021.
The duke has repeatedly denied the claims, and has not been charged with any criminal offences.
In March 2022, it was announced Ms Giuffre and the duke had reached an out-of-court settlement.
It is believed the settlement included a “substantial donation to Ms Giuffre’s charity in support of victims’ rights”.
