Crown Sydney opens 6-star hotel, restaurants
After four years of construction, the hotel dubbed “Australia’s most luxurious” has opened its doors, along with a suite of upscale eateries.
Australia’s only 6-star hotel has opened its doors, with Crown Sydney launching its accommodation and dining precinct to the public this week.
Dubbed “Australia’s most luxurious hotel”, the opening comes despite NSW’s Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority halting the launch of Crown’s gambling complex last month.
The gambling regulator made the decision amid the Bergin inquiry – held this year to probe the suitability of Crown Resorts to hold a Sydney gaming licence – about criminals allegedly laundering cash through Crown in Melbourne and Perth.

The Crown Towers hotel rooms, which took four years to complete, feature sweeping views of the Harbour City and plenty of luxury finishes.
At 275m, it is now Sydney’s second tallest building behind the Tower Eye.
The hotel also has a luxurious spa set over 2000sq m. Crown Spa Sydney features “relaxation rooms, vitality pools, experience showers, infra-red saunas” as well as terrace areas for yoga.
Also opening this week are a suite of upscale eateries and bars which include celebrity favourite Nobu, an upscale Japanese restaurant chain owned by Robert De Niro.

Other places in the Crown complex include Chinese restaurant Silks, Japanese eatery Yoshii’s Omakase, lounge bar Teahouse, noodle house 88 Noodle and upscale lobby bar TWR.
There’s also Epicurean, a restaurant featuring nine “live kitchens” where patrons can watch their food being cooked, and a’Mare, which will offer traditional Italian food.
Rounding out the food offerings at Crown is Woodcut by chef couple Ross Lusted and Sunny Lusted.
Focusing on cooking with wood, charcoal and steam using Australian produce, Woodcut features three open kitchens focused on each cooking method.
Crown Sydney chief executive officer Peter Crinis said he hoped the new complex would be an “incredible destination for Sydney”.
“Sydney is one of the world’s great cities, and it deserves a great hotel. Crown Towers will deliver that and so much more,” he said in a statement.
“A lot of time has been spent getting the offer right. Our chef line-up reflects some of the most exciting names in the culinary food scene – we hope this becomes a destination people want to visit time and time again.”
