Aussie RV road sign prompts driver confusion

A road sign, common around Australia and well known to keen travellers, has caused confusion online.

You've been pooping wrong your whole life

Grey nomads or keen travellers will no doubt recognise this sign, but it has stumped some less accustomed to life on the road.

A confused Redditor recently took to the forum to ask about a blue and white sign spotted in the NSW regional hub of Bathurst.

It shows a van with an arrow entering a square below it. Underneath is another arrow pointing to the left.

“What does this sign mean?” the poster inquired.

“No other information near the sign, and no caravan park or other discernible amenity for campervans was down the street that I could see.”

The forum was quick to provide some unsavoury answers.

“Dump point … for pumping out the sh***er,” one responded. “S**t pit that way,” added another.

One went as far as to label the dump points a godsend as others chimed in with tales of picnics ruined by people dumping outside the allocated points.

Dump points are vital to release waste, know as grey and black water, from vehicles.

“These are good things. I have pulled up at too many wayside stops/ picnic areas to find that some dirty (person) has dumped their s**t under the picnic table or somewhere equally as disgusting,” one added.

According to the Australian Dump Point Finder app – which does what it says on the box – there are more than 580 points around the country.

The free dump points, usually facilitated by local councils, are thought to attract travellers with the option to offload their waste for free rather than stopping at a caravan park.
