The real star of the Oscars? Jared Leto’s mum

SHE was the woman who stole the show at Sunday’s Oscars, proving once and for all that natural beauty is worth its weight in gold.
We’re not talking about Lupita Nyong’o or Jennifer Lawrence. We’re talking about Constance Leto, Best Supporting Actor Jared Leto’s mother — and his date for the evening.
She was reportedly the talk of the town at Oscar parties, and her popularity was painted all over Twitter:
Can't decide who I want to look more like: Constance Leto or Jared Leto. #bothsogorgeous

Constance Leto, 62, turned heads with her long, flowing grey hair and an elegant black gown, becoming the unofficial ambassador for Growing Old Gracefully.
Jared proved just as admiring as the general public, thanking her profusely in his acceptance speech.
“In 1971. Bossier City, Louisiana. A teenage girl finds out she’s pregnant with her second child. She’s a high school drop out. A single mom. But against all odds, she manages to make a better life for herself and her children. She teaches them to be creative. To work hard. And reach for the impossible. That girl is my mother and she’s here tonight. Mom, I love you thank you for teaching me to dream,” he said.
Jared was born in 1971, and was raised by his “very poor” single mother until she married Carl Leto, from whom Jared takes his last name.
“I was raised around a lot of artists, musicians, photographers, painters and people that were in theatre,” Jared told Kerrang! magazine.
“Just having the art communal hippie experience as a child, there wasn’t a clear line that was drawn. We celebrated creative experience and creative expression.
“We didn’t try and curtail it and stunt any of that kind of growth.”
Proving creative genes, like luscious hair, runs in the family, Leto’s mother is also a photographer, and launched her own women’s jewellery line called Linda & Constance in 2007.
