Aussie sisters break the truth about what kind of twins they are to their parents in bombshell reveal
Aussie sisters Renee and Jasmine took a DNA test that revealed their whole life has been a lie.
There’s nothing like an existential crisis to start your week.
Aussie twins Jasmine and Renee Hogan decided to dig into their own DNA to uncover the truth about what kind of twins they are.
“We’re really nervous,” Renee said in the now-viral TikTok video to her 408,000 followers.
“We’re about to find out if we’re identical twins or fraternal twins.”
She said the pair have believed they were fraternal twins for their “whole lives”.
“Mum’s always told us that we’re fraternal because the doctor told her that we’re fraternal,” Jasmine added.
The sisters bought a twin DNA kit to finally confirm whether they were identical or fraternal, and shared the results as soon as they came in.
And after some brief confusion, they had their answer:
“The siblings are... identical! We’re identical!” Renee revealed.
Jasmine couldn’t quite believe the news, saying “no way” as she covered her mouth in shock. Renee seemed more sure, telling her twin that she “knew it”.
It was then up to the girls to break the news to their family, starting with their sister-in-law who said she had been “waiting on this” test result and that she was “not surprised, but surprised”.
Their parents could not believe the news, with their dad insisting (and maybe trying to convince himself) the girls really were fraternal.
Their mum was shocked by the news, exclaiming “no way!” after the twins shared the results.
“Identical! No way! So the one egg split into two?” she said.
“And we’re one sperm,” Jasmine said.
The video has racked up more than 2.1 million views in the 48 hours since Renee posted it and thousands of comments surprised the twins could not see they really were identical from the start.
“This is a joke right? Like ain’t no way you guys thought you were not identical twins,” one person wrote.
Another wrote they “find it so funny that identical twins can’t [see] that they’re identical”.
Others were amazed their mum had it wrong from the start.
“Don’t fraternal twins have [two] placentas!? My sister and I are fraternal but look identical and Mum has always said there were [two] placentas,” one woman commented.
Renee replied: “That’s what mum told us too but the doctor got it wrong.”
