A Queensland man has shared a photo of a mega spider on the wall of his home, shocking social media users.

The Cairns local Jake Gray stunned users in a spider identification Facebook group by sharing the fact he’d “been watching her grow over last year”.

The spider, which appeared to have an abdomen similar in size to a large halogen light globe also in the picture, and a leg span around half the size of a serving tray, was perched up high on a wall in the man’s kitchen.

“Check out this big girl,” Mr Gray wrote. “Been watching her grow over last year. Cairns North Queensland. The mighty huntsman.”

The post caused quite a stir online, attracting more than 1100 reactions and more than 50 comments.
